Ep 8 – Real Stories From Italy’s Coronavirus Lockdown With Local Nadia Koski

Nadia Koski is an American expat who has been a Florentine resident for 15 years. She and I became close friends when I lived in Florence from 2011 to 2014. Along with her Florentine husband Matteo and adorable Jack Russell named Gilberto, she has been on Coronavirus Lockdown in Italy since Saturday, March 7th. They are projected to lift the lockdown on April 3rd, which can change. This interview was conducted on Saturday, March 14th.

Her story is very important because she shares how even a day or two before Coronavirus Lockdown she was not sure how serious to take the warnings, like many of us in the United States. Now that she has been confined to her condo in Isolotto, a neighborhood in Florence, she is grateful that this has been a countrywide mandate.

Nadia is a Digital Marketing Manager for a Florentine start-up, plus a marketing consultant for US and EU companies. She is also an amazing musician who is in two bands and a choir that travels throughout Europe. She was one of the thousands of musicians in Italy playing live music from balconies each afternoon. We get into the joy of how these Balcony Concert Series, if you will, bring her and how it has changed her perspective on things, on community, and on her own self-reflection.
